Joseph Audley Pierce was an American football coach. He served as the first head football coach at the University of Tennessee from 1899–1900, compiling a record of 9–4–1. At the time of his service, there were no assistant coaches, which meant that he had the sole responsibility for coaching the team. During the 1920s, Pierce coached at Corsicana High School in Corsicana, Texas. He was an alumnus of Lafayette College.
