Knoxville, TN: October 21,2013: In recent years, the last thing a Vol fan would want to see is the sight of Michael Palardy walking out onto the field. The fear of what typically took place would cause ulcers of UT fans in Neyland, through the airwaves, and into cyberspace. Today, however, Palardy got his redemption. Tennessee is driving with seconds to go in the game all the way within the 5 yard line. Every Vol fan on the planet screaming “punch it in” for the winning touchdown. As the seconds ticked down fear began to creep into the guts of Vol fans knowing that Coach Butch Jones was sending in Michael Palardy for the winning field goal. Fans understandably became nervous knowing the history of Palardy.
However, this time Palardy delivered! Not only handing Tennessee its first win against a ranked SEC opponent in recent years but adding to the momentum Vol fans were feeling from the overtime game with Georgia the week prior. We’ll certainly need more of that magic moving further into the meat of Tennessee’s SEC schedule facing Alabama, Auburn, and even SEC East leader Missouri.
