Playing NOT to lose

Tennessee Volunteers

I don’t know how else to really put it.  The beginning of the game did look somewhat like we were trying to really put forth an effort to win and, historically, we’ve always had good gameplans against Georgia.

Nick Stevens I thought did a very good job for his first start in a SEC game.  He didn’t make any huge mistakes like fumbling the ball on the damn 1 yard line or throwing it into the upper level bleechers 5 or 6 times.

But I kept catching myself yelling out our defense because we seemed to be playing 10, 20, or more yards off the ball.  I couldn’t understand why we didn’t blitz more or get more physical with receivers.  Is Erik Berry the only guy we have on Defense?

Our offense didn’t run any play we hadn’t seen 100 times already this season.  We even ran the damn “G-Gun” offense which never fooled anyone, even the first time we ran it.  We seem to be learning impaired or assume everyone else in the SEC is.

I just don’t know what to say more.  I can’t imagine how we can get through this season with a winning record.
